Your solar possibilities.
Your numbers to explore.

Estimate system size, panel count and an illustrative budget. Adjust the assumptions to compare scenarios before your free consultation.

Planning estimates only. Example inputs are not local prices, utility tariffs, a roof assessment, or a SunRoute quote. No contact details are required to calculate.

1. Your electricity use

Identifies your scenario only. Utility selection does not load rates or change assumptions. Enter values from your own bill.Use your last 12 months of kWh divided by 12. The starting value is an example.Production target does not equal bill reduction.

2. Solar and battery assumptions

Yield is an editable example after system losses. No ZIP, weather, roof direction, tilt or shade modeling is performed. Ask your installer for a site-specific production estimate.Illustrative $3.00/W starting assumption, not a California market price or offer. Replace with your written cash quote. Roof/electrical upgrades and other extras may add cost.
3. Energy value and financing assumptions
Example rates, not your actual tariff. Import prices and export values vary by utility, season, time and agreement.Includes direct use and, if applicable, useful battery discharge after losses. Edit to reflect installer modeling. Annual totals cannot determine hourly consumption or battery dispatch.

How these estimates work

System sizeAnnual usage × production target ÷ annual yield, rounded up to whole panels.
Annual energy valueSolar energy used at home × avoided import price, plus exported energy × export value. Subtract the service allowance to show net energy value.
Cash costPanel count × panel watts × price per watt, plus battery budget when selected. No incentives deducted.
Simple cash paybackCash cost ÷ annual net energy value. Static first-year assumptions only, not a lifetime return calculation. Shown only for cash scenarios with positive net value.
Loan comparisonFixed monthly amortization on the entered project cost plus financed fees. Annual net energy value minus annual loan payments shows an illustrative cash-flow difference, not your total electric bill.

California utilities use different billing rules. Your installer should model the correct tariff and hourly energy use. Review CPUC net billing information. For a separate production modeling tool, explore PVWatts. This calculator does not connect to PVWatts or utility databases.
